Hernovate is the umbrella project of Emerging Communities Africa for the empowerment and development of women and girls in Nigeria state. Hernovate is a platform that has been developed to serve as the bridge towards achieving the goal of developing and empowering women and girls in Nigeria toward bridging the digital gap currently been experienced in the country.
Problem statement- The digital divide especially as it relates to the different gender has become more complex than Internet access alone, with the result that the categories within it have also become more complex. The first or initial digital divide was focused in terms of access to computers and an Internet connection, which is based on sociodemographic factors. The digital skill gap currently been experienced will only continue to widen if urgent and deliberate steps are not taken to reduce the inequality experienced in different sectors in Nigeria.
1. BOSSLADY” for women and ladies in SME (Women focused SME accelerator and Community)
This programme is essentially geared to equip women with a broad range of skills and knowledge to move their business to the next level. This programme is an SME type acceleration that is focused on women and also has a catch them young mandate, where established women in the society will have the opportunity to mentor the next set of women change maker in the business world. In retrospect to our mandate, the programme is geared to build a strong and vibrant community of ladies in SME.
“Shecreate” is a platform that has been created to equip women and girls between the ages of 12-30 with digital skill irrespective of age, education, background and social economic status. The programme is also geared toward empowering young girls and ladies in rural areas in the state.
During this process they would have the opportunity to learn the following:
1. Graphic design
2. Digital photography
3. Digital design and illustration
4. Video editing and content development
Impact Numbers- Under this project we launched the DIGIWOMAN series which has so far impacted over 100 woman led businesses in the last 3 months.
