Hernovate

Hernovate is the overarching initiative of Emerging Communities Africa for the advancement of women and girls in the state of Nigeria. Hernovate is a platform that has been created to act as a link in the process of empowering and advancing women and girls in Nigeria in order to close the nation’s current digital divide.
Problem statement: The categories within the digital divide have gotten more complicated, especially as they relate to various genders and Internet access. As a result, the categories themselves have gotten more complicated. The first or original digital divide was concentrated on the sociodemographic characteristics that affect who has access to computers and an Internet connection.

The digital skill gap currently been experienced will only continue to widen if urgent and deliberate steps are not taken to reduce the inequality experienced in different sectors in Nigeria.

1. “BOSSLADY” for female employees of SMEs (Women focused SME accelerator and Community)

The main goal of this program is to give women a wide range of knowledge and skills they can use to take their businesses to the next level. In this initiative, which is modeled after a SME acceleration program and has a catch-them-young mandate, established women in society will have the chance to mentor the upcoming group of women change-makers in the business world. The program is designed to create a strong and active community of women in SME, keeping in mind our mandate.

2. “SHECREATES”

“Shecreate” is a platform that has been created to equip women and girls between the ages of 12-30 with digital skill irrespective of age, education, background and social economic status. The programme is also geared toward empowering young girls and ladies in rural areas in the state.

During this process they would have the opportunity to learn the following:

1. Graphic design
2. Digital photography
3. Digital design and illustration
4. Video editing and content development

Impact Numbers- Under this project we launched the DIGIWOMAN series which has so far impacted over 100 woman led businesses in the last 3 months.

When we think of other peoples lives as linked to our own, our empathy grows. They’ve demonstrated an amazing ability to help build a brighter and better future for our country. – OLIVER SANDERO
